How does your team respond when the pressure rises?

Most teams are surrounded by information. The challenge is identifying what matters, communicating it effectively and turning it into coordinated action. Teams Under Pressure places delegates in an unfolding scenario where time is limited, information is incomplete and priorities compete. As the situation changes, the team must build a clear picture, make decisions and adapt without losing sight of its people or objective. The experience reveals how your team really handles ambiguity, workload and pressure—and what must change if it is to perform more effectively.

The Course

Intelligence not information. Choose your environment The learning principles remain consistent, but the experience can be delivered through one of three immersive scenarios.

1. Everest

Everest explores the tension between ambition, risk, fatigue and responsibility for others. Delegates examine what happens when commitment to an objective begins to compete with changing reality—and how effective teams preserve judgement, trust and collective resilience.

2. Dakar

Dakar explores repeated setbacks in an environment where the operation must keep moving. Delegates examine adaptability, resourcefulness, communication and how a team maintains confidence when plans repeatedly fail.

3. Rescue Mission

Rescue Mission explores resilience when urgency and human consequence are immediate. Delegates must manage their own reactions, support colleagues and maintain coordinated action while the situation continues to develop.

At the beginning of the experience, delegates are deliberately presented with more information than they can use. Some of it is important. Some is incomplete. Some is distracting. The exercise makes the distinction between collecting information and creating useful intelligence clear, practical and memorable.

  • What do we know?
  • What do we think we know?
  • What actually matters? What remains unknown?
  • What decision must be made now?
  • Who needs to know what?

The scenario allows your team to experience and examine:

  • How information is filtered and shared
  • Whether priorities are genuinely understood
  • Who assumes responsibility when leadership is unclear
  • Whether specialists are trusted and heard
  • How assumptions affect decisions
  • What happens to communication under pressure
  • How individuals affect the resilience of others
  • Whether the team adapts when reality changes from experience to workplace actionThe scenario is only part of the programme.

Our operators observe how the team plans, communicates and responds throughout the experience. The operational debrief then examines what happened, why it happened and where the same behaviours appear in the workplace. Delegates leave with practical approaches they can use to improve communication, decision-making and collective resilience.

Integrate Save a Life

Rescue Mission can incorporate Sandstone’s Save a Life training.

Delegates first learn essential skills including catastrophic bleeding control, CPR and defibrillator use. They must then apply those skills as part of a broader team scenario involving conflicting information, multiple casualties, limited time and changing priorities.

The result is a powerful experience combining genuine lifesaving capability with leadership, communication and decision-making under pressure.

Delivered by people who have operated under pressure

This programme is delivered by Sandstone operators drawn from military operations, intelligence, emergency medicine, expeditions, aviation, motorsport and senior leadership.

They bring lived experience—not a facilitator’s script—and understand what effective teamwork looks like when decisions and communication carry real consequences.

Programmes are tailored around your objectives and can be delivered at our location near Stirling, at your workplace or as part of an off-site, conference or leadership programme.

Our training is built on real-world pressure, delivered by instructors who have operated under pressure.

We blend real-world operational experience with pressure-tested communication and decision-making models to deliver immersive, scenario-based training. This approach allows individuals and teams to practise how they lead, communicate, and respond when the pressure is real — not just when it’s discussed in a classroom.

Our instructors come from high-performance environments including military, security, emergency services, and senior commercial leadership roles. They’ve operated under pressure, not just studied it — and they bring that experience into every leadership, team-building, and first aid course we deliver.
